SETI GUI vs SETI CLI

I am currently running SETI GUI 3.03 on my system, and I read that the CLI version is faster...

I use it as my screen saver also, so if I switched to CLI, would it run all the time, or just as screen saver?

CLI runs all the time, I recommend setting the screensaver to the blank screen. 3D & Fancy Screensavers eat up a lot of CPU cycles, making SETI take longer to complete a WU. 🙂

If you switch to the CLI I would use these instructions for getting it set up. They make it real easy to do and the CLI can reduce your times by as much as 50% (although your results may very but I would say by a minimum of 30%).

It took me several months to get 100 work units with the GUI version. With the CLI it has only taken me several weeks to get 60+ work units. The CLI is much faster.

Here is a decent comparision between my computer with the GUI and CLI. Mind you overclocking was invovled to make the CLI numbers look better 🙂
