SETI Driver v1.6.3.5 Announced

Hmm...well, I downloaded it but was going to look at it tonight. Here's the text of Mike's Usenet message (Hope you don't mind, Mike 🙂 )

I fixed the client priority radio group and updated the copyright notice in
the "About" dialog.

The problem with v1.6.3.4 crept in while I was attempting to figure out a
way to change the actual thread priority of the client so SETI Driver could
be used to work around the "Off-line" folders (mis)feature in Outlook 200x
and Windows XP. For those of you who haven't hit this problem, it is
basically caused the SETI CLI client running at base priority 4 and the
"off-line" support in Outlook and WinXP running at base priority 1. The
upshot is that Outlook and XP wait for the off-line folders thread to
complete before they continue operating, but the SETI CLI client is
consuming all the CPU because it has a higher processing priority.

To ensure you have the latest version, download from the "United States" link. The mirrors can take a day or so to update and the "Spanish Language" version may take longer.

No problem on clipping the usenet post.

Mike.

As currently designed, SETI Driver won't be able to change the client's thread priority unless you're running on WinME or XP. I have reported this problem twice to Berkeley. I haven't looked at whether an application can do it if it keeps the thread handle around when it creates a process. If I actually do v2, I will definitely look into this.

Mike.

So this addresses the "stumbling" problem when using Win2k and Outlook, am I getting the right idea?
