Seti Driver allows you to configure the number of processes you plan to run and it can even automatically determine whether you're running multiple processors and will allow you to set the affinity for them, eg., it can identify whether it's running on that dual or quad-Xeon 1Mb box you've finally built. :D

I've run my own systems (P4s w/HT) with the box checked and unchecked and really couldn't tell a difference.

Somewhere I read (can't remember where) that you could use this feature on multiple cpu systems if you wanted to run Seti on one CPU and keep Seti from running on the other(s). I've gotten the idea that this doesn't really do much good in HT systems that operate in a (quasi-dual) cpu mode (a term I just made up .. lol) but is really intended for use in "real" multiple cpu systems.

Smoke,

:)

Haha! I wish!

This is what I was after. I have checked the box, and unchecked it, but just like you I could not tell a difference, either. Oh well...

Thanks Smoke!

I did not build them. IBM, Dell and HP built the 4 that I have. 3 of them are 2Ghz the other is 2.5Ghz, all with 1mb L3

Sadly though none of them are running Seti yet. But 3 of them will be. Along with 2 more 4p Opterons.

Are you NUTS?

You are already kicking ASS in SETI, as I have noticed. Don't add any more crunching power! You are running away!

Or, at least, consider joining us HERE for a good cause!
