Seti Driver - Maximum Processes?

Why would I want to set the maximum processes in Seti Driver to anything more than one? Will it speed things up if I allow it to create more processes?

For a single cpu computer you'd leave it at 1.

That setting is for multiple cpu machines. Seti isn't smp capable so to take advantage of multiple cpus you have to run multiple instances of seti. If you had a dual cpu machine it would be set to 2 instances, 4 cpus would use 4 instances and so on.🙂

Edit: BTW it would slow down your times if you tried to run it at more than 1 with a single cpu machine.

Hi Adam,

When I came home for Thanksgiving I noticed that my daughter's system was taking 16 plus hours to complete a WU. I looked and looked at the system trying to find what was eating up the CPU cycles. finally I noticed that Max Processes was set to 12! :Q Thank goodness I only have the queue set to two! So, two WU's were being processed at the same time. I reduced that to one and restarted SetiDriver. Then everything was fine...except that I wanted to choke her boyfriend!

Happy Holidays! 🙂
