Has anyone run Seti on one of the new barton cores, I would be interested in what their times look like?

I'm thinking about trying one of those nforce2 boards with a barton.

LOL, there's a Barton 2500+ and Abit NF7-S with 1Gb Corsair XMS DDR plus a Seagate Barracuda V SATA sitting under my desk not being used. Why? Because I was stupid and forgot to order a SATA power adapter with the drive. So I can't put the rig together. If you can wait till Wendesday when the cable should get here I can tell you;)

lol ,hurry up & get it sorted we want WU times;)

Btw I know theres a hardware review site that has tested the Barton on SETI (they regularly use SETI as one of their bnechmarks). Now if only I could remember who they were! ,I think it was a UK site?

[edit]
Found it!:D

Here's Hexus.net review of the XP3000 including SETI benchmarks:)

By my calculations the Barton is about 4.5% faster than a regular XP at the same clock speed.

Btw my XP1700@2.05GHz does .417 WUs in 2.5hrs with VHAR WUs in just over 2hrs,& it only cost £43:D ,less £35 for the sale of my XP1500;)

I wonder how high my XP2400+ would overclock?
One of these days when I can afford to replace another mobo I might just try modding the mobo I have here and see how high it will go (or not)

Why do you need to mod the mbrd to overclock your XP2400?
As for overclocking potential ,you might go as high 2.2-2.3GHz:).

Btw looks like I could easily get in the Top 10 of the TLC top 200! :D

:D

Yeah I was quite surprised myself ,looking at the TLC Top 200 I come very close to much higher clocked rigs(looking at 0.417 WU times on my Q) ,including yours;) ,I'm not quite sure why that is.
It maybe down to my CAS settings of 2.5-2-2-6? or maybe its because I'm running Win2k & not WinXP??.
Thinking about it ,part of that is down to my Nforce2 chipset vs KT400.
Look at my home Q for more WU times:)

2003 Mar 14 04:39 19.456,27.88 6.622 Assimilator1 Ath XP1700 @2.05GHz DDR 2:10 :D hehe

[edit]oops forgot to say what mbrd it is:eek: ,its an Asus A7N8X ,& I'm using 2x256Mb of Crucial PC2700 @178MHz ,using 2 sticks enables dual channel RAM:)
For more specs see my rig link (my fleet)

Yes, without dought it's the Nforce Boards that make the differance. I have 100 MHZ over RickD and he has me by 16 min. on a .417, Iam using a KT400.
And get your name on the List :D

Doh! I just discovered that I was running in Single channel mode!

I've now moved a RAM stick so that I'm in Dual Channel mode ,whilst SSS has shown a small increase in bandwidth ,latency2.exe shows a slight increase in latency:(.I wonder which one of the 2 will be faster? ,we'll see when the next WU has been finished.

Btw some benchmarks

A1, That's an awesome Time, I mean WOW. What mb is it.

sure wish my palimino 1700+ would hit 2g's 1.796 is the fastest it will run stable, I could up the voltage a little, but my el cheapo coolermaster hs wouldn't be able to keep it cool. ave. wu is 3hr2min. at 2100+ speed of 12.5x133fsb

We are using the CLI version, rather than the GUI (screensaver), which I guess from those times, you are using. The CLI is MUCH faster than the GUI (up to 25% faster than an optomised GUI, about 40-60% faster than a non-optomised GUI).

Check the Team Anandtech SETI links in people's signatures for instructions on how to set up the CLI, and ask if you have any problems :)

DOOD!!!

My 1800+ totally stock - no oc whatsoever does every WU in less than 4 hours! - some much less.

You really need help! And guess what - you are in the right place to get it! ;)

hehe ,my XP1600 @1.68GHz with PC133 RAM @ 140MHz does average WUs in 3.9hrs:) ,will be a bit faster when I lower the multiplier & raise the FSB to 145MHz.
Hey & get that Dual 1800 crunching!:D

You didn't need to wait mate ,you could of checked out WU times on my home Q linked further up:)
Anyway it looks like switching to Dual Channel mode has knocked about a whole 3-4mins off!
