seti cuda question

I accidently hijacked another thread so I moved my post here:

wow, you can run seti on a gpu now?

edit: um, yeah...I've been, uh, working a lot lately...damn recession...taking me away from cool things like seti.

ok guys, so I don't have to do ANYTHING AT ALL to enable my gtx 260??? no cool downloads from some monty python-esque websites with secret passwords like "bacon"???? I followed the very simple instructions and it just seems way too easy.

Should I disable one of the cores on my x3350 to focus on the gpu or will the seti agent handle that for me?

Welcome back Bryan, haven't seen you around in a while. Sorry you have to work so much but you are not alone. 🙂

As for your video card, if it anything like the F@H settings, you wont have to do much. I (we) have been doing some testing with performance with these cards and found a couple of things that should be addressed. With the latest Nvidia drivers ( 182.06) or later (beta), the Cpu isn't as overwhelmed with the video processes and is pretty much depending on itself. With that being said, it still needs the Cpu for better results. We have found that the Gpu works better with all cores available to the Cpu. The PPD production on the Cpu isn't affected too much so make sure that your settings and or variables can utilize all Cpu cores. I have also found ( a hint found from Sid from the F@H forums ) that using the slightly higher core priority helps within the configuration settings of F@H.

I am not familiar with Seti, but If you can set your cards for that just like F@H, your card will produce very good results.

Hope this helps😉

I'm using nVidia drivers 182.08 and boinc 6.4.7 on my i7 with a gtx 260... i was up to 9200ppd and still climbing until seti hiccupped this weekend... i7 is OC'd to 3.3Ghz and the gtx is running stock with the fan at 50%...
