SETI CLI question

Hi,

I have a quick question about the SETI CLI. Does it automagically transfer the completed WU's? I have SETI driver installed, with a buffer of 10 (don't know if that is good or not, but hey). Should I have auto transmit set up? Any tips to improve performance? I was using the GUI, but it was taking almost 33 HOURS to complete a WU n a 750 Duron... Seemed a little unreasonable. :) So I using the CLI w/ SETIDriver and SETISpy. Thanks for any help...

If you have a 24/7 net conection then put SETIDriver to 'auto transmit' ,other wise don't & manually transmit when you're on the net:).
SETI CLi client itself will automatically 'transfer' its work to SETIDriver:)

As far as your buffer level goes you want about a 5 day safety net
What WU times are you getting now?

Any tips to improve performance?
Have you tried tweaking your RAM settings in the bios?
If your RAM can take it ,then running CAS2 latency,4 way interleave & turbo seetings will improve you WU times noticeabley :).
BTW depending on your m/brd & bios version some of those options won't be available

Your buffer size is probably ok. I think I would cache ~fifteen though. Three days worth is generally sufficient. Five days worth SHOULD get you through a prolonged outage.
The best software performance boost will come with a change to win2K if you are not already using it. (unless you are a linux type.) Win2K does not show much slow down at all with VLAR w/u's.
I set my home systems up for manual transmits so that I can balance my production. Remote machines that I don't have day to day access to, I set to auto transmit.
I also use Fire Daemon To run Seti Driver as a service on some of my win2k machines.
A battery back-up is also essential for continued crunching.

Have fun :)

Ya beat me to it Assim. :)

win2k client is actually faster than the linux client now, i believe. the nt client running on WINE is possibly faster than actual nt.

Freeze, I just looked at your RC-5 stats page-impressive. :) With the power you have availiable, you may want to check OhioDude's Seti Race thread and join the competition.

ElFenix, Had no idea, thought linux was faster @everything. (I don't fool with it though).:)

This is true. However, good luck getting it to run! :| Unless you're pretty good in Linux I'd suggest installing Win2K for better performance.

Makes up for me being late in the stats :p;)

Five days worth SHOULD get you through a prolonged outage.

Exactly :) ,I used to run just a 3 day cache which was fine until they had the longest ever outage when their optical cable got cut! I think they were cut off for 5 days !:Q:(.I had to st....'transfer' ;) WU's from my fathers & brothers SETIQ (who had a much larger cache due to low activity)to keep mine going.I just managed it ,my PC was a few hours off finishing it's last WU when I mamnged to get new WU's.
So now I run a 5 day cache:)
Also it's worth knowing that with the enforcement of v3.03 the resubmitting of WU's got pushed up from 14 days to 28.

OK. Well, before when I was using the GUI I was getting 33 hour times for 1 WU. That is way too high right? My system specs can be found here. I have the processor at 750 now because of the warmer weather. Everything else is the same. Using WIn98SE for the OS. I am only using 1 PC really for RC5. I do have my brother's P2 233 running it, but that output is very sporadic. To my knowledge, I have all the RAM settings tweaked. Followed the tweak guide for the Abit KT7 that I found. According to SETI driver, I can expect about 7+ hours times. That is amazing. I must have set something up wrong...

I do have a battery back up but it only covers about 1 hours worth of time. :)

So I should be good to go now right? Anyone know what kind of hit I can expect if I run both SETI and RC5 at the same time? Thanks.

33hrs is a horrendous time even for the GUI version!:Q ,I'll put money on it you had the graphics showing all the time(that doubles WU time!).
I would think with a Duron 750 you'd get WU times of about 9hrs or so.

Anyone know what kind of hit I can expect if I run both SETI and RC5 at the same time?

SETI tends to get most of the cpu time ,apparently SETI is at a higher priority than RC5.
If you want to run both projects the best way of doing that is to alternate projects on ,say a weekly basis.
