Seti CLI-client acting as screensaver?

I guess this can be done, but how?
I like the pretty colours of the GUi and all, but it took me 12 hours to get 30% done so I think I'd rather use the CLI-version, where it took 7 hours and 52 minutes to finish one wu.
Only problem is; I don't wannna use any windows scheduler or anything to get it to work after a certain amount of computer inactivity, it'd be simpler if I could just get it going as a screensaver..any help?

Wake up, numbercruncheros !
Surely you can't be using the GUI? And surely you don't execute the program everytime you want it to start crunching?

Did you enable the Blank Screen option on the GUI? That really lowers the time per WU. Use SetiSpy to keep an eye on your progress.

The best way to get SETI CLi to kick in as a screensaver is to install SETIDriver to manage it ,there is a seperate file for it that will allow SETIDriver to be a screensaver
There are links in my sig for it :)

Thankya thankya :)

EDIT : Grrr, only thing I've managed to do so far with seti driver is delete my CLI executable simply by clicking 'New Client' in the seti driver window..but now worries, eh? Stupid program, and stupid me, about to try the same thing again ..

EDIT : It does it AGAIN!
However i seem to try it, it deletes my CLI-file!
GRR, since I can't seem to run the cli as a screensaver I'll just use the graphical version. Eventhough it takes approx. 45 hours to complete a WU insted of just under 8.

Grin,
Staw away from the New Client button on SETI. That is used only for when SETI delivers a new version of their client. SETIDRIVER deletes the current version and prompts you for the new one. (I did the same thing when I started using SETIDRIVER. Deleted it 3 times before I caught on that that button wasn't what I needed to use.)

Be sure to provide the # of WU cache you want, usually 2 to 5 days worth of WUs. And once you have it configured the way you want, be sure to click on the SAVE CONFIG button. I forgot to do that a few times too, and kept wondering why it wasn't taking my changes.

Can't help on the screensaver part of SETIDRIVER.

Good luck! :D

Ah, yes, thanks :) Seems i don't need to press 'new client' ..anyhow, I have it set up as a screensaver now, but since setiDriver hardly gives any info about current work at all I'd like to get setiSpy to start when the screensaver (setiDriver and seti) starts..hmmm..

While you can get SETISpy to start when Windows does I don't that you can with the screensaver.Anyway you don't really need SETISpy starting when your not there to watch it;)
