SETI-CLASSIC

How to run SETI-Classic and Join TeAm AnandTech

How To configure your SetiDriver for SETI-CLASSIC to use a TeAm SetiQueue.

Once you have your SetiDriver setup and working properly it is recommended that you use one of the TeAm's SetiQueues.

This will insure you have WUs to crunch when the Seti Server is down.

Thanks everybody. I don't have a sister, but I have my mom's old rig cruching, does that count?! LOL. I'm up and running with a 2.4 Woody @ 2.8, my AXP 1800+ HTPC, wife's 3.6 Deleron, and my Winnie @ 2.4. The P3 450 is downloading windows updates after coming out of mothballs. Glad to be a part of this-we're gonna catch them despite that debauchery!

BTW, I'm 3088 now. I have 4 WU's in 2.5 hours and that's mostly without the woody and P3 because I was installing windows and whatnot. Wooooo. This is awesome. Unfortunately, my employer may not think that checking SETI results every 5 minutes is "work." Thanks again everybody.

Welcome aboard! Sounds like you'll be doing a considerable amount of crunching. Have fun!

AGREE EMPHATICALLY! They should call it something like crack@home. I have checked stats at least every hour today. Good news is that my little farm is going great. TeAm AnandTech has the leader of the class from yesterday by a 3-1 margin over everybody else! I will have to get those others goin' to help our awesome team hold off BBR. Every WU counts!

Just got done finishing off my mini-fleet. Wife is probably gonna divorce me too. Now its the Winnie @2.4, the Deleron @ 3.6, the mobile P4 (not C as mis-stated before, no HT :( ) @ 2.4, the AXP 1800+, the P3-450, the K6-2 350, and the lightning fast Pentium 166 WITH MMX! This thing is so fast! LOL. Hoping for about 45-50 WU/day, but 40 seems more likely. Anyhow, hopefully it makes a difference. It should be about 1,000 WU at least by the end of the month if they do shut it down.

Thanks again to everyone for the warm welcomes.

lol :)

RC5 is sometimes refered to as 'cracking' because it involves encryption cracking;)

Btw I used to have a Pentium 233MMX@266MHz (TX chipset,SDRAM) & that did WUs in about 29-30hrs with CLI v3.03.Expect about 45-50hrs/WU with a 166MMX ;) ,can you overclock it?.Prior to the 233MMX it had a 166MMX@188MHz which I think did WUs in about 40hrs

Btw whats a Deleron?

Your estimates for 45-50 hrs/WU with the 166 seem pretty good. Unfortunately, it is a factory made IBM, so OC is not an option. A Deleron is what myself and some others I've seen are calling the Prescott based Celeron-D's. They are a lot better than the NW ones due to FSB increase and bigger cache. It's a Celeron D 320 with a factory speed of 2.4. Up the FSB from 133->200 at default voltage and viola` you've got a 3.6 GHz cpu for $75. YMMV.
