All is working at home : Web access, mail, bittorrent to download the last linux distro...
except connecting to berkeley... :(

My queue is always trying to connect to shserver2.ssl.berkeley.edu without success... :(

Code:
M: 16/04/05 09:05:54 failed to connect to server (Connection timed out)
   connection suspended for 30 mins
O: 16/04/05 09:13:42 Trying server..
M: 16/04/05 09:16:51 failed to connect to server (Connection timed out)
   connection suspended for 30 mins
Last message repeated 1 times
O: 16/04/05 09:52:09 Trying server..
M: 16/04/05 09:55:18 failed to connect to server (Connection timed out)
   connection suspended for 30 mins
O: 16/04/05 09:59:04 Trying server..
M: 16/04/05 10:02:13 failed to connect to server (Connection timed out)
   connection suspended for 30 mins
O: 16/04/05 10:09:38 Trying server..
M: 16/04/05 10:12:47 failed to connect to server (Connection timed out)
   connection suspended for 30 mins
Last message repeated 2 times

I now have more than 300 WUs to send. I still have 350 WUs waiting in the queue but the situation is critical. :(

Well, sometimes my SetiQueue settings gets all messed up and I have to change some of the stuff again. So check all your settings, like if your using a proxy server, it's set to WinSockProxy with the correct proxy address or WinSockDirect of there's no proxy.

The best test would be to move your setiqueue folder from where you installed to another folder and reinstall it. If if the new install connects, then there's something wrong with the old one. If thats the case, you can either search for the problem, or just copy the folder with your queue folder in to the new installation (usually User.xxxxxxx). If the new install does not solve the problem, then check your hosts file (win2k C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc) if there's anything about seti.

Otherwise, check any firewall/av software you've got installed, maybe dissable it and try again.

I'm using JSETIDoor on a linux box. Even with my firewall down it don't connect. I've read the log and sometimes it connects and download some (4 or 5) WUs and then the problem occurs back again. I've checked my hosts file and it's OK.
I've tried to connect to Greg's queue with no success...
I'm going to try to reinstall all the stuff...

I have access to Mucman's jSetiDoor and have noticed that sometimes it does not try to contact Berkeley for extended periods. Did you KICK it? Anything happen when you did?

Reinstalling sounds like a good idea.

Nice find, RD.

Wonder why he couldn't hook up to my Q? I'm not at Berkeley. :p :D lol

Has the SETI server change his IP adress ?
Here is what I get :
[root@agecanonix jsetidoor]# host shserver2.ssl.berkeley.edu
shserver2.ssl.berkeley.edu has address 66.28.250.122
[root@agecanonix jsetidoor]# host 128.32.18.166
166.18.32.128.in-addr.arpa domain name pointer sagan.SSL.Berkeley.EDU.

The known IP for the SETI server was 128.32.18.166 and the associated name was shserver2.ssl.berkeley.edu
And now we have shserver2.ssl.berkeley.edu resolving with 66.28.250.122
and 128.32.18.166 pointing sagan.SSL.Berkeley.EDU ???

I think my queue is confused with the change.

I tried connecting to Sony's SETIQueue but JSETIDoor and SETIQueue don't speak the same language....
Here is what I get :

M: 16/04/05 21:09:12 connected to Berkeley..
E: 16/04/05 21:09:13 When requesting workunit, bad header from Berkeley
server
M: 16/04/05 21:09:13 disconnecting due to unexpected error
O: 16/04/05 21:09:58 Trying server..
M: 16/04/05 21:09:58 connected to Berkeley..
E: 16/04/05 21:09:58 When requesting workunit, bad header from Berkeley
server
M: 16/04/05 21:09:58 disconnecting due to unexpected error

So I'll have to find an European JSETIDoor queue... Is there an existing one ?

Paul-Eric,

How many computers are in your account? The TeAm Enterprise SetiQueue has plenty of capacity to handle your crunch. You'd have to set each computer to go directly to my Q, I could provide you a private port number(s) so you can monitor each of your computers.

Thanks Smoke. :) I'll look in this direction if I don't find anything else...
I've 4 machines at home I can point to your queue but the rest of the fleet is at work where I don't have internet access.
I also have some friends crunching with my account and using my queue.
I need to feed my home queue to be able to feed my work queue.

Mucman's queue seems to be running JSETIDoor and I'm able to see his queue site.
I think I'll request an access to his queue and then point mine to this one.

I've just set you up on Muc's Q ... wait a while for some work to cycle through and I'll report when you are good to go.

hmm, it's been over 15 minutes and nothing has cycled through Muc's Q even though it reports that it is connected to Berkeley? I've observed this before with his jSetiDoor as I mentioned earlier. I'll continue to monitor and let you know when (if) your account is ready ... starting you off with 50 WUs. ;)

Great news.

It appears Mus's Q is stuck ... probably needs a physical KICK. ;) :) lol

Maybe Muc should use the same port as you?

No need to worry Greg. ;)

Using 82.101.132.51 port 8080 as proxy and pointing directly to Berkeley is doing the job fine. :)
365 queued WUs will soon be added to the team roster. :D

Hey guys, I'm aware of the slow connection issues JSetiDoor has with Berkley. I've also seen the same reports that the old version doesn't seem to have this problem. I'm game for trying the older version if someone could find a copy of it for me :)

Go TeAm!

I'm stuck again... :(
The proxy option seems to be not working anymore. :(
I'm switching my queue toward Mucman's queue.
I'll keep you informed.

I don't know if this is the same problem that I'm having but I'm trying to flush a setiQ and am getting this in the logs:
2:23am: Waiting 10m00s before trying again
2:23am: Sending Result: SendRequest to shserver2.ssl.berkeley.edu failed: connection aborted
2:23am: IO Timed out. Closing connection.
2:19am: Sending result 26fe03aa.4223.6705.73576.6
I've only been able to flush ~20 in the last day.
