I bought an ac to help run more p;cs, but the apartment cant handle the extra load on the wiring.

So i only have 4 running , to make matters worse , I installed the ac in the living room, cool but it wasn't helping the heat in the bedrooms.c So I moved it to the bedroom, and started it up.

Reminder to self ...when you install an ac unit make sure the water drips outside and not on your main surge protector.:Q

Thankfully I buy good surge protectors - I bought 2 more even better ones to replace the one that got shorted.

Now for the good news, I got lucky, Everything is back up and running, nothing got messed up 😛

Friggin' storms here in the mid-Atlantic are killing me. Between the storms at home knocking off a few hours a day, and evening storms cutting me off from my 3 work PC's for entire nights/weekends.... And right before a Myrtle Beach vacation too. Oh well, the next two weeks are going to be awful production wise. Thank God I'm only like 0.4% of the TeAm's production! VPN's only go so far... Someone let me know when they come up with a solution to remotely turn on a PC from a cold state :|

Too many reboots from the ac 🙁 sorry guys.
 
hey guys, I just started processing WUs again and I was wondering. I'm using setidriver and in order to start it up automatically with windows I set a shortcut to driver in the startup folder and it works fine. I was wondering if there was a command I could put in the startup line or any method to have the program run minimized instead of the window popping up at startup and the user having to manually hit the minimize button?

go to the shortcut to Seti driver you made and placed in the startup folder

right click the shortcut and select properties

in the run box select "minimized"

click ok

Why don't you buy a generator and run the A/C on that? Then you'll be able to free up the power to run your "Puters 😀

P.S. I know about the heat problem......had to de-overclock all my puters to run @ normal and still having problems. :disgust:
 
Well, I have the folks at work set to at least keep one of the PC's running "most" of the time while I'm out. The rest, well, not much I can do.

As for the neighbors, these are the folks who are so stuck up that they have banned temporary pools. That's right. We can't even put up a 3 foot inflatable pool for the kids :| But don't get me started on that. I'm officially on vacation now, though we don't leave home 'til Wed. morning. No work for 2 weeks! Oh, the joy!!!

I can uderstand that. At least the bulk of my fleet is unaffected by that since it's a nice cool work environment. Well, except for when the power gets knocked out by storms. At home, the only downside is that I can't fire up my old PIII-550 during the warmest days. Two PC's in a cluttered room with barely enough room to turn around in just gets a bit too warm 😀 Then again, its not like its a power cruncher anyway. I'm lucky if I get 3 WU's in 2 days running full bore with it. In the winter thoguh, I think I actually save a bit on the heating bill 😎

go to the shortcut to Seti driver you made and placed in the startup folder

right click the shortcut and select properties

in the run box select "minimized"

click ok

I prefer adding -min to the target, as follows:

"H:\SETI\SETI Driver.exe" -min

Works like a charm.
