Currently around position #16,000 in the global team or #22,000 in the UK and would like to see an improvement! I've got an Ultra 10/333Mhz with 1GB RAM. Would it be worth running BOINC on this if they can get the Solaris version working again? I know the Sun box is ancient compared to my A64 and might not pack much punch?

Gonna get the 3Ghz laptop on the case too!

I thought Seti BOINC gave credit by cpu time not the number of wu's a day.

Say your Ultra did 1 wu a day, and your athlon64 did 12 a day, both computers took 86,400 seconds to do the wu's, so shouldn't the Sun get the same amount of credit as the Atholn64 ?

Maybe we can get some help from RD :)

Short answer, claimed_credit = cpu_time * benchmark * constant. :)

In other words, a 486-33MHz using 1000 hours on a wu, and a 486-33GHz using 1 hour on the same wu will claim the same... but atleast in seti, due to the 14-day-deadline, only the 33GHz can expect getting any granted credit. ;)

I figured I'd get the same credit for each result returned irrespective of how long it took. If they get the Solaris version working again I'll give it a spin and report back on how long it took (don't hold your breath!).
