Seti BOINC and Classic

Just wondering if you can run both at the same time? I have d/l v4.13 and installed but I don't get it? Once wu are finished how do I transmit? Do I need to uninstall classic? or am I just missing something ;-) Do I just need to attach to a project?
 
Apparently you cant according to my rig. BOINC seems to have a higher preference so all CPU usage goes to it rather than to Classic.
 
If windows, "classic" runs at priority 4 while the BOINC-version runs at priority 2, so "classic" gets 99% of the cpu-time... But it should be possible to run latest version of seti-driver at lowest priority, and by this method have "classic" run if no work from BOINC.
Of course, if you also "attachs" to Climateprediction there's no risk of running out of work. 😉

To get any work in BOINC, you need to "attach" to a project.

Returning work in BOINC is a 2-step-process, step 1 is uploading result-file(s). This normally happens immediately after a result is finished crunching, and afterwards the gui lists that WU as "ready to report" in the work tab.
The 2nd step is to "report" finished work, and this happens when your computer successfully connects to a scheduling-server and all "ready to report" WU are removed from the work tab in BOINC.
To minimize traffic on the scheduling-server, they're trying to group multiple "reports" together, so you only connect if either you're asking for more work, at least one result is near deadline, or you manually hit "update" on the Project tab in BOINC.
 
Ok,.. so what project do I need to attach to?
In my projects tab I have Seti @ home,
in my work tab I have 2 seti projects, the first is "ready to report", the second is "running"
and in the transfers tab is,... nothing.
This sound right ?
 
How is BOINC doing these days anyway? I haven't switched from classic yet as BOINC was still having problems the last time I checked.
 
I run SETI Classic as a primary on six computers and SETI BOINC in the background. Classic uses 99% of the resources and BOINC shows 0%. The only problem that I have had is that on one of the computers the work unit for SETI BOINC has an error and has to restart. The work unit continues on were it left off. Since none of my other computers do this I believe this is computer related not SETI related. About twice a week I put SETI Classic on idle and allow SETI BOINC to process through the current work units. I have only one or two work units per system.

As far as SETI BOINC I believe that it is very stable at this point. I have had no problems with it for several months.

One other point is that we are still trying to hold off BBR on SETI Classic. Hopefully everyone will stay with classic until it is shut down and then transition over to SETI BOINC.

I ran BOINC and Classic on the same machine. I set each to run on one processor. Since I have a P4 3.4 GHz box with HT, they both ran with 50% of the CPU. The times were what I expected for each. I was getting about 10 WU a day from Classic at least 8 from BOINC.
