SETI: Are we pushing to catch S@NL or not?

I'm wondering, with HP and BBR far behind us, are we likely to catch S@NL or is it too much to expect? The current diff is about 785,000 WUs.

The reason I ask is this: Is it time to move my meager crunching capacity to another TA DC project? Can we just coast across the finish line in SETI now, or is BBR still a huge threat??

I know that MY account doesn't amount to much more than a pebble on the mountain of WU's TA has done so far, but perhaps this is a question other folks are pondering as well.

Thanks gang! Go TeAm!

Well it seems logical since they are the next in line to 1st Place...

They do have tons of members though so it's much more of a challenge then BBR. Not to mention that since D2OL needs help some SETI people may move their crunchers over to that instead.

What are you talking about? Bruce Lee would own the Coke... 😛

do not EVER count BBR out !!.....we should all stay crunchin till seti 1 ends....then switch programs ... I would hope everyone else would agree....BBR has done some big time gains in the past.....we have to watch them till the end..........

I'm in total agreement here. Remember, it wasn't long ago that BBR was ahead of us by around 90K. We may have BBR pinned down for now but if we take our foot off their throats I know they'll bite us in the arse for payback! 😛

im slowly starting to convert my machines over to DPAD, granted im really not doing much for the TeAm currently but I need to do some testing for new projects to move to when SETI I ends.

I wish you were correct......They need to stop dragging their feet and end SETI 1. All this hint dropping and never giving any firm date is getting really old. I am ready to move onto other projects!

Well, let's see, Seti@BOINC current error-rate around 10%...
Seti@home, currently distributing wu recorded in November 2003, so still doing new science.

So of course it's a great idea to end seti@home today and instead deploy something that for some crashes, and sometimes doesn't give the same result as seti@home gives...

More seriously, since it looks like Dr. Anderson is away for another week & there's still debug-code in the client, don't expect any release by 1. April 2004.

Anyway, any push to catch S@NL should hopefully also increase the gap to BBR.

We need to keep our collective "foot on the gas." We need to keep the gap between the TeAm and BBR growing.

😱 I wasn't aware it was that buggy!

Just upgraded a comp from a 1600xp to a 2800xp (running currently as a 3000xp🙂), so you'll still have my best 2 crunchers till April 1st. 🙂
