seti and SMP

I've never done this seeing as I don't have any SMP systems, but I believe the correct procedure would be to have two copies of seti in two different folders and starting them with a switch like this:

-cpu N set client to run on CPU N

so the total command to start two instances of seti would be something like this:

c:\seti1>seti -cpu 1
c:\seti2>seti -cpu 2

or very similar at least :)

Good luck

Yep,

No problem on a Duallie....:)

Using CLI and SETIDriver, it's very easy. Once installed (ask if you need assistance on this :)), open SETIDriver and it will has box with "Maximum Processes"....fill in the blank with 2. There is also a small check box (only detected on Dual systems or more) that will let you run independent processes....check that. Hit the "Save Config" button and you're off! :)

Remember to create the "SETIDriver" shortcut in your "STARTUP" folder of Windows to make it restart :)

Ask for more assistance and welcome to the TeAm! :D

Here is what I do on my SMP (dual) system.
Install seti driver
set max processes to 2
check the box to assign processor affinity (I get better performance this way)
cache enough WU's to keep it busy for 3 days if Berkely or OK goes down.
I put OK's proxy in there.

The clients aren't SMP threaded, but you can run two copies of the client.

If you are using the CLI and SetiDriver (the preffered method), simply set the "Maximum Processes" to 2 (or higher depending on the number of CPUs)

For links, look at "How to set up SETI" link in my sig.

thx everyone. I have it setup. I put out one WU in 10 hours. Looks like I need faster cpus. :)

Well if that is 1 WU in 10 hours per cpuy then you will get at least 4 WU per day.
Not bad!
