<< Thanks Soni,

BadThad had a pretty good idea, IMHO, we could email those members who have never produced one WU and have been a member for over one year. If they don't respond or respond unfavorably, their name would be deleted from the active roster. Now before someone asks...the "active" roster is my terminology...as far as I know there is no "inactive" or "active" roster...only "the" roster. ;)

That could be setup as a "team policy" and it would be an automatic thing that the team administrators would handle. I could provide "them" with regular updates as to which names should be removed.

I could start by using the history that Soni has provided and keep it chronologically. Perhaps, once a month the purge process could be done.

How say you active members of Team AnandTech?
>>

I say yes.

I considered a more lengthy email (which as a lot of you know is more my style :) ) but felt like something short and to the point would be a better way to go.

How would something like this sound?

Looks good to me. Maybe also have an option where they can tell us if they want to be removed from our 'mailing/team list' so that people whose email accounts are still active can let us know if they don't want to be on the team any more...

thanks! i started my own group at UTK (University of Tennessee at Knoxville) and i had big plans for it, but i only suceeded in getting my roomate to join and he has even quit since then lol! so i cant count the credits from the last group, but since i heard about Team Anandtech, i knew it was time to become active again :) current rig is running a bit slower than what i was used to a year ago, but thats the sacrifices you make when building tiny home theater pc's! its a duron 800@872 cas2 currently, soon to be 1ghz t-bird or 1.33ghz, depending on how many watts my cooling and case can dissipate. hooked up to the schools LAN 24-7, i can always grab more WU's as soon as i finish. running the command line version as i speak, cant wait to beef up all our stats! :)

YES! ;)

<< i only suceeded in getting my roomate to join and he has even quit since then lol! so i cant count the credits from the last group >>

y0shi2, is your roomate still a friend? When you say you can't count previous credits, do you mean they don't count because they're part of your old team? Can you talk your roomate into letting you borrow his password (or his email account) so you can join him and his credits to Team Anandtech? Have you joined your units? Even though the website says your WUs don't follow you, THEY DO!!!

Let us know if you have any ?'s

:)

LMAO ,only 108 yrs! ,that'll pass in no time;)

y0shi2
Welcome to The team :)
btw if you still have your password ,or your SETI email add still works ,then you can join your old WU's to our team:)

current rig is running a bit slower than what i was used to a year ago
Perhaps you are comparing WU times between v3.0 & v3.03? ,v3.03 added about 30-50% to the WU times.v2.04/v2.4 was somewhere inbetween depending upon the system.

lol guys! i got this directly from the seti page:

If this is the first group you have ever joined then all of your current credit will be given to this group, in addition to all new credit you receive.
If you are currently a member of a group and are switching to another group, the new group will receive all of your new credit, but the old group will keep all of your old credit.
Joining a group does not affect your personal credit statistics in any way.

i never lost my password, and since i was part of my own group last year, the 204 credits i have already done will only affect my personal standings, and they wont affect TeamAnandtech. can u imagine the administrative nightmare that would occur if people kept switching groups and they wanted to bring their old credit with them? it would constantly be throwing group stats in flux from people leaving and taking credit away etc...

and the reason my computer is slower than im used to this year is because its not a water cooled duron 600 @ 1050 with massive overclocking gear anymore :) It seems weird, technology is moving forward, yet im moving backwards 12 months in terms of processor speed :)

Stange, but true! But, you do take your WUs with you! y0shi2, Welecome to the TeAm!

SB, The idea of the letter sounds great, but what you posted might sound more like a collection letter, than a friendly nudge. You started with:

<< It has been one year since you joined Seti Team AnandTech. Our records indicate that you have not completed a Seti Work Unit in that time. >>

Possibly, we could say:

<< We are in the midst of a recruiting drive and thought it might be helpful to contact our inactive members. Our TeAm stats indicate that you have been not been crunching WU for at least one year. >>

My input is just a suggestion, others may have a more snappy intro that will catch their interest and not seem like we are getting on their case.

assimilator: my name is y0shi, go figure :) are you sure that the "results received" column reflects how many WU's went to TeamAnandtech and that its not just a listing of how many ive done personally? thats what i figured, but hey, if theyre willing to add my credits up for our TeamAnandtech, then awesome! *sniff* i miss the days of my 4hr/WU when they were easier to crunch in ver. 2.0 hehe. 205 WU's crunched and counting!

smokeball: that letter looks really good, if we can possibly get more of our enrolled actively working and trim the numbers of discarded accounts, our numbers will look even better heh. we all appreciate the effort youre going thru to help us out as a team, go Team Rocket! wait, nm, GO TEAM ANANDTECH! :)
