Seti acchievements?

It has been discovered that a bunch of people are addicted to stats like the stats were crack or something........ :Q

😉

saftey isn't really known as the brightest guy out there... it wouldn't surprise me if this was started as a flame thread.

but watch out. he has a 2000 accord v6 that runs 12s in the 1.4mile with a CAI and PIAA 001 solitaire fogs - With OEM Fog Switch!

let the thread sink.

berkeley has bandwidth problems

Unfortunately TBIRD1, you are right 🙁

Time for a dissenting opinion.. 😉

Actually, I truly don't believe that the core issue is a lack of bandwidth! :Q No, really, the lack of bandwidth is a consequence of how the project is being handled. What truly is a problem is that Berkeley is the sole single point of failure.

Think about it.. certainly, those of us running public Seti queues are helping to alleviate bandwidth congestion during the day at the Berkeley campus, but if anything happens to Berkeley the project is screwed! There is no mirror site to pick up the slack. There is no redundancy in the project if Berkeley gets wiped out or otherwise taken offline by a sudden California earthquake, terrorist attack, etc.

No, I believe that there needs to be at least one additional site in the world that can operate as Berkeley is to help in providing operational service for the SETI project. Surely a project of such significance would be of interest to one of the corporate sponsors like Sun or SGI if asked? There are others as well! What other large academic institutions or corporations would jump at the chance if given the opportunity?? We may never know until we ask.

Hey, I truly hope that this new 100meg pipe does indeed solve some immediate bandwidth issues! But it won't solve the underlying problem.. it's merely a bandaid for a little while until the next "clogging of the pipes." 🙁
