So my friend who's running vista home premium and who lives very far away is having some computer issues. she's pretty computer illiterate so i cant really instruct her so i was wondering if it was possible for me (using xp pro) to remote connect to her computer? this is a home computer with a dynamic ip so i'm not sure if it's possible. i've only remote connected to work computers in the past

Easiest way - Sign up for a LoginMeIn Rescue trial account. This service is typically used by help desks / support staffs of vendors to connect to client PCs without hassle. It allows you to point her to a website, she enters in a code that gets generate from the application on your side, she downloads and runs a small executable (no installation necessary), and within a minute or so, you'll have full control over her PC.

Logmein. If you can get her IP address and she doesn't have any firewall, you may be able to use Microsoft's Remote Desktop Connection.

Unfortunately, Vista Home Premium doesn't accept Remote Desktop connections. It's reserved for Vista Business and Vista Ultimate.
