I've used Enermax, Sparkle and Antec. The Allied is easily as robust as any of those with strong, solid voltages. I've had several Antecs die after a year, I refuse to use them anymore. I've found that the Allied 450-watt daul fan version runs cooler than any of the others when powering any highly overclocked set up. Adjustable pots for the 3.3v and 5v rails, big heavy heatsinks, built to last.

I've been using Allied PS's, getting them from Newegg too.

Very heavy (Torroidal Power Transformer) and good on the 5 volt rail which is having the problem with the other PS's out there.

It doesn't matter the what the wattage rating is if the 5 volt rail is anemic.

I also have a Allied Psu [450 true], I bought it a year ago after a 400w el cheapo psu that came with my case died during a game [only had it a month to].

The rails on the allied are great - 12.2 on the 12v, 5.1 on the 5v and 3.3 on the 3.3v line during load.

And thats with 2 40gb hds in Raid 0, a 80 Gb drive, radeon 9500 pro, a overclocked 2800+ cpu, 5 case fans, and a sound card and some other stuff.

Considering the Antecs go for $70 and up, $50 for the 450 model is a great buy.

The 400 models though i would be somewhat weary of as ive heard they dont weigh nearly as much as the 450, which would suggest it uses cheaper components.

Update to my post above. The P4 board in question is now working. It was a NewEgg refurb, but my friend waited too long to test it and they wouldn't RMA it. The 2.4ghz P4 he ordered with it wouldn't POST.

I got to thinking last week that I'd try an older P4, so I bought a 1.6ghz and it immediately fires up. My guess is that the BIOS revision on the board was not up to date and didn't recognize the 2.4ghz processor somehow.

Anyway, when I add a new HS/Fan on Monday, it will be up and running. It will be my only P4 (out of 5 AMD XPs, 3 AMD Durons, and 4 Celerons, plus one A64 3000+)

Wiz, go buy an Enermax, Fortron, Sparkle Power or Antec power supply before you fry something with that junky PowMax.
