Set up a Raid 0 and now it's slower.

My WD Velociraptor read at an average of 103MB/s. I installed a second and set them up in a Raid 0. Now they read at an average of 99MB/s. What gives? I have a Gigabyte ga-965p-ds3 mobo. The mobo has four yellow SATA ports and two purple ones. It seems logical to plug the HDDs into the two purple ones for RAID. Is this right?

The two purple ones might only be running via the PCI bus vs. the ICH paths. Try running them via the yellow ones instead.
