set TV to power on/off automatically?

i dont need it, but it would be nice....

seeing how i always wake up and watch the news at 6am then go off to work at 6:30am, i wanted to have the TV on and automatically by itself.
an ON/OFF timer, for lights, does not work
a google search shows some TVs have this function built in like LG and Samsung.

strangely all TVs have timer for OFF, but not ON. any solution out there besides getting a newer TV?

What tv do you have and do you have any sort of sound system or equipment hooked up to the tv? Fire TV, receiver, etc?

If your TV has HDMI CEC you can hook it up to a device "smarter" than it that can power it on through the CEC connection.

Of course there are solutions. Whether they'll work for you may depend on how technical you are willing to get, and how much work you are willing to put in. It seems like there ought to be something in between this:
