Set resolution too high, can't start in normal mode.

Alright I accidentally set my 24inch lcd to something above 1900x1200.. probably 2048 or something and apparently vista does not revert back after 15 seconds so I was screwed.

Started in safe mode, uninstalled the video driver, restarted, installed new driver.. Still no signal after a few seconds of seeing the windows loading bar.

Why/how is it remembering the old resolution after a fresh install?

And why is there no vga mode in vista?

thanks

Did you try "updating" the video driver to the "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" driver, instead of the video card manufacturer's driver?

it boots with that installed but then I'm stuck at 1280x1024... I wonder what the hell happened, I've now tried vga mode, driver cleaner, different drivers and I still can't see anything in normal mode..

Well it has something to do with the goddamn nvidia drivers; I did a fresh install on another HDD and everything was fine until I tried to install the newest nvidia drivers. Halfway through the installation the screen went blank
and "no signal" came on my monitor

Thank god for restart with last known good configuration.

I had some trouble like that with 175.16 (I think). I had to re-install an image as well. I think I'm stuck with 174.74 until I buy a next gen card.
