Set my computer to hibernate

Last night I set my computer to hibernate, I woke up this morning and turned my computer on and left the room, when i came back there was a BSOD. I really didn't pay attention to what it was saying, i just hit the reset button; now after the "Verifying DMI pool data...." nothing happens, it just switches to a blank screen, it doesn't start loading windows like it normally would.

So, I fished out an ERD Commander cd and booted from it and now it says there is "no operating system to mount" I have access to the other two hard-disks in my system... but no sign of primary disk containing the OS.

I'm running winxp pro
1.5gb ram
a7n8x
axp2800+
Samsung 160gb sata (contains os)
2x 40gb Seagate's (contains music, documents etc..)

what do you think happend? and can i fix it?

-Thanks in advance 🙂

I've had that happen before. It seems like it just nuked itself. I had it happen to where I open it up in Partition Magic it comes up as a Type 22 partition. I've never heard of a Type 22 partition. Either your hard drive went south, or your partition is messes up and you have to install windows. I would try going into fdisk or something like that and see if your partition is active or your mbr got messed up. Just a thought.

When you boot with your XP CD and go into recovery console, what do you see?

I booted off the XP cd, I had to load the SATA controller drivers off a floppy for it to see the SATA drive; after that I used the "Repair" function on that drive and that fixed it 🙂

- Thanks for the replies murray6475 and dclive!
