Set Custom Baud rates for Win XP?

I am trying to set a custom baud rate for a modem, for diagnosing a problem. My Modem works GREAT @38,400 Baud rate, but lags like crazy if set to 57600. How can I set the baud rate up (on a COMM port) to accept like 42600, 44000, or 45200? This is for Win XP Pro

I dont know if this will work or not because I've only ever changed it to "normal" speeds, but you might try changing the default speed as listed under:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Ports

It worked, but it doesnt change the "baud rate" in the pulldown, however it does lower the rate. Thanks!
