I don't have a problem with Ticketmaster at it's fundamental purpose. It's a simple fact that the fees end up costing 50% or more of the admission price itself. And it's not my fault there isn't an alternative. I'd gladly do a window call and pickup the day of the show if that was an option. But many times it's not.

Oh and fuck the data plan requirement on a smart phone. 99% of the time I have my phone it's covered by wifi. Bleh.

Worthless service? Most people don't want to have to drive to the box office to get tickets, and if venues had their own option for online purchases you wouldn't need Ticketmaster.

which is fine if the fees matched the level of work involved by ticketmaster

My favorite is the ~$10-15 convenience fee you get charged for printing your own ticket. What the fuck? You're saving them ink and paper, all they had to do was put a fuckin barcode on the thing and put +1 in the "attending" numbers. But then when you decide you WON'T print your own tickets for this reason and you'd rather just have the box office hold your tickets, you pick "will-call"... and what's this? THE SAME FUCKING CHARGE FOR A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SYSTEM OF GETTING YOUR TICKET?!!?! Fuck ticketmaster right in their eye socket. Their fee system is absurd, overpriced, and just a blatant lie. Don't tell me your fee is a "printer convenience fee" when I still get charged the same "convenience fee" for not using a printer. At least be honest and call it a "you have no fucking choice now bend over and take it bitch... fee"

High speed internet service - cable and dsl are the same over-priced prices.
Labor/parts costs to replace a clutch and transmissions seals in a 2002 WRX.
General price for food/drinks at restaurants
Property Taxes
Utilities, Gas, and Garbage fees
Health Insurance Costs
Drug Prescription Costs

Air Conditioning in South Texas... whole system getting replaced as we speak. I should post in that 2000 emergency money thread. :)

I am very thankful that I have the knowledge to do this kind of work and a good buddy who owns his own HVAC company so I can get all the equipment at wholesale when needed. You really don't want to know the markup on this stuff. It is insane.

Health Insurance Costs
Drug Prescription Costs

Move to a different country :p Health insurance costs aren't an issue here obviously. Drug costs CAN be an issue though most jobs have plans that cover you fairly well, even bad jobs.

Annual license plate fees. It used to be really cheap to get a non-vanity plate and a vanity plate a little more expensive. Now it's almost $100 for a vanity plate and over $60 for a non-vanity license plate.

That and now you will only get one license tag, instead of two, for the same price.

Ticketmaster wouldn't be so bad if they just advertised the price all wrapped up, up front.
Instead, they itemize everything out and pisses everyone off.
Just tell me the ticket is $60 instead of $30 right off the bat.

It has taken me a while, but I finally realize that it is usually cheaper to buy at the gate or off craigslist.

The bullet I have to bite is 1.5mbps/768kbps for $40/mo.
It's the only high speed service available on my road.

Cable is the first thing that comes to mind for me. I'm on a mission to get rid of cable, but I am not sure it's a realistic option.

It is realistic unless you watch a lot of Hockey IMO. I use Hulu and Netflix now for my TV fix without any cable and haven't really missed it. The only thing I miss is not having Versus for the NHL playoffs. Some of the Stanley Cup should be on NBC though so that'll help. For football it didn't phase me as I get all the local HD channels over the air.

Autodesk.

You aren't kidding, we have a "project lead the way" course at the high school I work at, and each year our school is required buy licenses of the new version, and upgrade all of the computer hardware that runs it if necessary (3 labs, 90 computers total)

The teachers have mentioned that there really aren't any changes in the programs significant enough to justify the yearly upgrades, but it's a requirement that the program insists on so they can continue making money for autodesk.

There is a lot of money spent in that course, so much that the school is considering dropping the program since the tax payers are bitching about the yearly overhead.
