Services.exe is taking up 100% cpu...

I'm trying to help my uncle fix his computer via IM. His computer started going really slow lately and I was able to figure out that services.exe was taking up 100% cpu. I thought it might be a virus but Norton Antivirus isn't finding anything. I found this.... http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;328885 but stupid M$ doesn't provide the patch. He lives about 1000 miles away so I can't just drop by and look at it. Anyone have any suggestions?

Here are some things to try:

1. It sounds like the MS fix from the link you included might be in a windows update. Try a windows update.

2. Run Scandisk, let it fix whatever it finds.

3. If your Uncle is a net surfer, tell him to clear his temp. internet files in IE.

Good luck.
