Service Pack 2 not compatible with video driver

I just built a computer with a socket 754 MSI K8M Neo-v motherboard with onboard video. When I try to d/l SP2 the computer will only boot in safe mode unless I uninstall SP2. I spent many hours on the phone with microsoft and they said that it is an issue with the unichrome video driver. I downloaded all the updated drivers from the VIA website but that did not resolve the issue. I called MSI and they said there should be nothing wrong with the video driver. Can anyone help me with please. Thanks

If you go into safe mode, goto your hardware property and try delete the video card. And reboot it, hopefully that will boot you into regular WinXP and reinstall your drivers.
