Service Pack 2 Corrupting Hard Drive??

Hey all, I've got a 1.3 T-bird w/ an I will KK266 with 256 megs of ram, 20 gig hd.
I recently decided to update Win2k with the newest service pack. I did the critical update, rebooted and downloaded SP2. It loaded all the files and shiz, then, rebooted. Upon rebooting at the win2k startup screen I get this error "Inaccessable Boot Device". I tried booting in safe mode, and last known good config. I also attempted a repair install, but that didnt work either. So I just reinstalled win2k over my existing. So, i thought i did something wrong, so i attempted to deploy SP2 again, and it did the same thing. I dunno WTF is wrong, nobody has any clue what caused it. Another problem thats recently came up is when playing winamp, or a game that requires lots of CPU, my sound scratches and skips. I've downloaded new 4-1s, DX8.1, new sound card drivers, still no dice. Does it mostly in winamp. I tried cranking up the priority class, still didnt work. I've uninstalled and reinstalled sound card drivers, still no dice.
Thanks in advance.
