Service call of the month

Service call of the month from a Baltimore Gas &Electric residential customer ... BGE received a call from a customer saying:

"My power is out. When you come to fix it be sure to bring a truck with a tall enough bucket to remove the deer". The customer
service rep prudently trying to gather helpful information to help diagnose the problem asked, "What deer"?

The customer replied " There is a deer on top of one of the electric poles on Wilkes Rd about 1/2 mile west of Perimeter Rd".

The customer service rep tried desperately to pull herself together and not laugh in front of the customer and replied " We will dispatch
someone right away to investigate the power outage. Thank you for the call".

Upon completion of the call, the customer service rep proceeded to share the funny story with her coworkers in the office and they all had
a good laugh.

Well, low and behold, the serviceman who repaired the problem stopped by the customer service office the following day with the
attached pictures.

Sure enough, the poor deer had been hit by a train & landed on top of a distribution feeder pole!

Poor thing 🙁

How does the web make bullsh@t out of a story so fast??? That picture is from that exact instance happening way up here in Manitoba Canada a couple of months ago. I'm going to find the story and post it....

The physics of that boggles my mind.

If a deer was hit hard enough to launch it all the way up there, wouldn't it have been at least partially pulverized into goo?

God dang! Where are the hooves? Still on the train tracks?

I knew I shouldn't have looked at the second picture, I'm going to have nightmares.

Ok, I can get the google cache of the CBC (Canada's national news) ref #2

Anyways, if you take a look at the left picture in that first link you can see that these poles are actually not that tall and the train track is elevated...so I think it is possible that it could have been thrown that far. The other theory which is very possible is that it is a hoax...this is out in the country so a couple of farm boys may have taken the front end loader or something out for a prank...

Ok so Canada get's the credit....

Feel better now? 😉

A friend just sent me the story and Pic's, I had no reason to doubt it's origin...

Oh I don't care...I just find it amazing that in the course of 2-3 months the story has changed so much and is being sent around in email forwards🙂

Yea, that's my bet. They found a deer that had been hit by a train or otherwise dead, and hoisted it up there as a gag. Judging from the glass insulators, those are old lines and may not even be in service anymore.
