Serverworks + Supermicro + AMD Opterons... fascinating    : )

And on the workadaystations?

* 2 and 4 CPU models
* Up to 24Gb of RAM (6 * 4Gb modules)
* Built in boardcom TOE gigabit
* AGP 8X/Pro 110
* Optional SCSI or SATA adapters on board
* ZCRaid compatible for either SCSI or SATA RAID

Wouldn't mind building/using one of those 🙂

SuperMicro is part of (hold your breath) the Elitegroup conspir ... erm ... group of companies. But true, so far they've been concentrating on Intel CPU server boards. With Intel and ServerWorks chipsets, and the occasional VIA inbetween.

Remember that chipsets don't play as strong a role with Opteron as they used to - both the RAM controllers and the CPU interconnect logic is in the CPUs already, the chipset only providing the I/O connections.
