This started a couple of weeks ago. We had a customers server stuck at the "Applying Server Settings" logo after a reboot. They could still access their network folders and the main program they use. They had me leave it until they weren't so busy. I checked back periodically and found that a day and a half later it had finally made it into the desktop. Searching for this problem I ran into a post that said there is a problem with APC battery backup software. Checking the services I found that both APC services were stuck at "starting". I was eventually able to disable these services. After that the server ran normally.
In the course of the next few days we had 3 more servers develop troubles that were eventually tied to the same problem.
One of the servers was so slowed down it would crash to blue screens because needed services could not respond in time.
A friend who is also in the tech business has had 2 servers that had issues that were solved by removing the old version of the APC software.
Anyone else seeing this?
