I am running SBS 2003. There are two NICS in it, one is static, the other is set to automatic. Sometime today when I was gone, it lost contact or something with my Linksys router, the router is running DHCP. All the other clients are fine, but the server will not let go of that 169.x.x.x.x ip address. I have flushed the DNS, reset the router, unplugged and replugged everything, tried repair, disable/enable....

still nothing

i run an email server on here as well....

Please, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

A 169.x.x.x IP address was automatically assigned by the server to itself since it couldn't reach the DHCP server for some reason or another. Look for something else causing a network problem - Cable, DHCP server not working, scope full, etc.

Yeah, an ipconfig /release command does not work for APIPA addresses. You need to do an ipconfig /renew. If it doesnt get a "real" address, it is unable to contact a DHCP server.
