Hi,

I got an older server off of the auction site and have moved it into a desktop case and given it proper cooling so it doesn't sound like an air compressor. Everything works, can run lots of VM's but when I fire up a game in Steam, it usually dies and reboots. I would guess I don't have a strong enough psu despite the various online calculators saying it is ok. What PSU/watts would you recommend for these specs?

500w Rosewill psu
2x Xeon L5420 quad core processors
Quanta S45 (Intel 5100/ICH9R chipset
4x 120mm fans
2x 80mm fans
20 gb pc-2 5300
XFX ATI 7850 1gb
500gb 7200 sata

Would also like to add a bluray writer and an SSD.

Thanks!

Dont know about Rosewill PSU, but 500 could very well be boarder line for 2 Xeons.....You are lucky the PSU fits the server mobo, most have additional plugs not found on consumer PSUs...
What is the mobo by the way, as PCIe for GPUs on server boards is also rare...

It is a Quanta S45 mobo from a Rackable Systems 2u server. It has a 16x and an 8x pcie slot. Would a 750-800 watt psu safely run everything, including a disc drive?
