I have a "server" set up on my laptop for web page design and testing purposes. For basically testing PHP and MySQL items. But it is a windows 2000 Pro machine and I can not get some things to work on it that I would like to try. While I can get these things to work properly on my host, I want to be able to test them at home before putting them up via FTP. I believe my problems stem from setting the file access attributes. Like on my host, who runs a unix server, I go in and change the permissions on files to what ever they need to be. Is there any way I can do this on my windows machine? Can it be done through windows? Or is there a unix or linux emulator or something I can try? I've got Apache 2 and Mysql running on my lappy. I've done a quick search on this, but really don't know enough about it to search succesfully. Any ideas or suggestions greatly appreciated. Thank you,
