Server Service Not Starting

I have a home office network with a Linksys BEFSR41. My host pc is not seen in the network. The laptop I have connected is seen. I can place files from the pc to the laptop through the network connection but the pc is not showing up anywhere. I did ping both machines and they ping good so the hardware is ok I suspect. When I tried to share a folder in the pc I got an error that the Server Service is not started. I went to services and to Server. It is set to automatic but when I try to start it the bar goes to the end and I get an error "Could not start the Server service on local computer" "Error 317:0x13d". This is the only thing I can see that is preventing the pc from showing up in the network. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

In the log file I do get an error:
"The Server service terminated with the following error: The system cannot find message text for message number 0xServer in the message file %2."
Does this help with a diagnosis?
