I've had a simple file server running for the past couple months. The board it was using was a refurb, but it seemed alright, and like I said, has worked for about 7 months now. Last night, however, something happened which I didn't realize today, and my server now seems to be dead. I can't get it to do very much. If it has been off for a while, it will run for about 30 seconds, long enough to enter the bios and watch the voltage levels and cpu status, before it reboots itself and freezes. If I restart the machine right away, it will run for a couple of seconds, but not near as long as it will when it's been off for a while.
I have checked the following things, and they seem to be alright:
Video Card,
NIC,
RAM,
Voltages from PSU,
PSU temperature,
All Fans
Everything checks out, but I have no way of testing the CPU, or the motherboard. I have a feeling that the motherboard is the culprit in this case since it was a refurb, but I'm not sure. I can't boot from floppy, nor HD, and I can't sit in the bios without the reboot and freeze, so it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the disk drives. It shouldn't be a virus. This server has virus software installed, and is not connected to the internet.
Does anyone have any ideas?
