Server/raid question

Hey all, I have a Compaq proliant 2500 with raid 5 on it. Just so I understand correctly, There are 5 4.3 gig hard drives, should it show all 5 drives or will it show 4? Can someone give me a breif discription of how raid works? Thanks for all your help!!

Depends on how you have the raid set up. Usually, you have at least 3 physical drives, but one logical drive. You can partition that logical drive into multiple partitions.....but again, it just depends on your setup.

Great! Thanks for all the info, I still have one question, I have 5 drives ona raid 5, Should I see all the drives or the amout of space the 5 drives have combined?

In the operating system you will see ONE drive and it will have the size of FOUR of those drives combined. You lose the space on the 5th drive to parity info.
