Server Quest II - Silverlight Game contest

I came across this today, and seeing as a lot of people are getting laid off and have time to spare, or simply like making stuff... I figured this would be interesting for some of you.

I think Microsoft is sponsoring this... basically, they're looking for submissions of what they call "a sweet game" (made with Silverlight of course and under certain restrictions of course) to be judged by a celebrity panel. The 1st place winner will receive $5,000, 2nd place gets $3,500 and 3rd place gets $1,500. Honestly, it's a nice chunk of change just to have some fun.

Anyway, if anyone is interested, go register and start developing. Be sure to read the rules first!

Definitely read the rules, since multiplayer, p2p, any kind of client-server are not allowed.

And at least the winners become Creative Commons licensed so you can't try to sell them to PopCap later.

I'm tempted since I want to play with Silverlight, but I doubt I'll get around to making something worth entering before the April 30 deadline.

Yes, but that leaves room for kickass ideas like a Silverlight sort-of-remake SpaceQuest-like game. Or Leisure Suit Larry-esque...

Or Leisure Suit Defense, where you build disco towers to defend your precious wardrobe from disco hating metal heads, gansta wannabes and soccer moms. All the while trying to get laid.

I know Missile Command has been done. Really any of the old Atari side-scroller ideas should be fairly easy to do.

Unfortunately I'm not going to have time to do more than ruminate on it though.
