Server problem! Need help! Lots of programs quit responding.

The server (W2K Server OS) had been up and running since about Thanksgiving with no problems. I had to restart it because of various software updates and now pretty much every I try to run quits responding, even My Computer, Internet Explorer, and pretty much everything except some "Administrative Tools." Even when I try to run a program from RUN it will freeze.

What would be causing this? I have restarted it probably 5 times and it still does it.
