As you all probably noticed we had a night outage last night, it was planned, and I accept responsiblity for the warnings not going up :). The move went quite well actually, although anand and I haven't slept in nearly 30 hours. You will probably notice much faster access as we are on a new network in a completely different location. There are still a few things to tidy up, but we should be wrapped up over the next two days.

Thanks for your understanding and support.

for whatever reason, since the move, i get a whole page of whitespace at top, with the ad in the middle of it, and the javascript PM window doesnt appear when i click the "send pm" button, so i can't pm anyone :-/

oh, no wonder, that's not whitespace, it's a new ad that's 600 pixels tall :|

also, some images are broken.

The images work ok for me, and the PM window works ok in Mozilla 1.2.1 in WinNT5 (Windows 2000 SP3). I'm not in Linux at the moment so I can't check on how Mozilla on Linux handles the PM window.

The tall ATI ads are making me P.O. also. Maybe Zuni can make the software rotate them 90 degrees clockwise. ;)

Adds are a little annoying but I think I could get used to it ,I guess something has to pay for these forums:(

Btw am I the only one whose thread subscribing no longer works?

I'm getting subscription updates, but they get sent to my PM box, since email with my ISP is very unreliable. It's not that I can't receive email, but rather that they occasionally get the idea that they should "spam-filter" some email that is actually useful to me - read: forum thread subscription messages - and they won't stop even when I have contacted them repeatedly in the past about that issue; they just claim that their server doesn't do any spam filtering. :disgust:

me too on the response notification.... put a thread in about it.. and e-mailed subscriber services... nothing yet, but it's only been a couple hours.

Hey guys, we are still with eicomm, they are great. We just moved NOC's, to a much much nicer facility, google is actually hosted there :) The new NOC is in Virginia, some of you will notice much better response times, which was another benefit of the move, more bandwidth. Anand and I started the move at about midnight and finished this morning at about 9:00 AM, moving 22 servers takes a bit of time.

The mail server had a few issues coming back online with all the DNS and IP changes, but it should be good to go from here on in.

Cheers

The main site (www.anandtech.com) used to respond to simply anandtech.com. Had to update my link and add www to the FQDN. Did you guys make some DNS changes?

Access actually stopped at like 6PM EST for everyone in #neochat and others who came to the channel to find out if it was down.

Correct, remember the servers were in pittsburgh, they had to be taken down and driven to the noc for a 12am start time :)

Well, there's definately something funny going on with DNS and/or Alias redirection. When I typed in " forums.anandtech.com ", I got redirected to this page. [link deleted]. The second time I tried it, the normal forums page loaded. It looks like Anandtech is now hosted on the same backbone as some Pr0n stuff. [link deleted]. Well, I hope that means better bandwidth now! :)

I am getting many gateway timeouts when trying to post to a thread. I checked other sites, and no problem. I suspect server problems still, but I do not know for sure. It seems slow for the subscriber side since the move.

I will also check my ISP. I do a DSLreports speed check to N.J. and it comes in at the range I pay for---768/128. That is why I am curious if there are some server issues still.

Of course, you've probably already checked, but have you done a tracert? I'm not a subscriber, but a tracert to the subscriber server from my place shows this:
