Server Monitoring Software

Does anyone have any recommendation on some Server Performance Monitoring Software? Something that will send notification and give me the Server Health and Performance screen. Preferably not cloud based. Something to be installed locally. and not very expensive.

Thanks in advance

Look at Pandora (easiest to get going, but I don't like how you can't set a range for values)
There's also Xenoss, Cacti, Nagios that are popular. There's more on this page:

I found that most solutions were too convoluted either to install or to use, or lacked features that I wanted (such as being able to push settings to agents) so I ended up writing my own. I would not consider it production worthy though and I have not setup a website yet to release it, but I plan to eventually release it.

Thank You very much for the information. I will look into some from the link that you have listed. And if you get your software going.

I've been using Intermapper for about 15 years. It's SNMP based and works great.

I also use Nagios, but it requires a small agent to run on the server to report data. Because of this, it's less popular. Cacti is great if you want to plot data on graphs to show trends in downtime or whatever...but I never took the time to really use it.

Intermapper has a decent UI and does updates frequently. It's worth the money if you maintain a lot of servers.

prtg offers free installs for up to 10 sensors. if you just have a server or two it might do enough if you are looking for alerts.

spiceworks is totally free and can do some monitoring/emailing/alerts that might be worthwhile to you.
