I know this is a simple question, but I have a dell poweredge 1800 that currently has 2x512 RAM. The RAM is micron ecc reg ddr2 400. Servers are picky so I cannot stick any other ecc ram that I have.
Question: since I can buy ram much cheaper than from Dell, would there be any reason why buying a different brand (like kingston) but with the same specs (ddr2 400 ecc reg, etc) NOT work? Any things I should look out for?
