I need somethign that I can use to generate a log file containing information about data access on a server. the information I need is 1) what file was accessed 2) what user group (or less preferably, what user) accessed the file.
I have set up Windows XP Auditing, and I can view/export the log file using the Event Viewer within the control panel....but this will not seem to work, because although it contains the data for what user/user group and what file were accessed, this information is not output to the log!!!
Is there a way I can use XP to do what I want? Or does software exist to do what I want? Anybody know any free software that I can use to do this?
