Server fan gone bad? How do I check health?

We deployed a CE-511 to a remote site.
The site contact told me one of the fans may have gone bad cause it sounds like "someone getting a tatoo".
"show power" or "show environment" doesn't work on the content engine.
I can't find anything in the syslog either.

Could someone please tell me how I can check the health / status of the system fans?
thanks.

dude, I could've said the same thing when you asked for Juniper commands 😛

Seriously, I've searched Google and cisco.com. I've looked in troubleshooting and configuration guides.
I found only one doc that's remotely relative, but it only tells you to plug the server into UPS, and keep the closet cool & dry, which is like common sense, and no mention of how I can manually check the health of the fans.

burrrn 😛

looked around for you too. the only pertinent doc i found was the hardware installation, which metioned that it has an exhaust fan...whooptidoo.

have you tried an snmp walk on the device to see if any of the cisco mib's come up with something useful?

You can try "show hardware" to see if that gives you anything. I do not remember if that shows the fan status or not and I do not have one running ACNS to check. I do know that it shows the disk status if one is failing.
