i clearly states playing 5 games at the same time...

I Did It!!! i thought it would be impossible, but i did it, i just can't figure out how play all at the same time, but let me tell you, fps are acceptabel :)

Is this true?

#1 A dual Opteron would outperform (on most things) a dual Intel-anything at the same cost and running stock speeds.

#2 As others pointed out the video card you listed would not be powerful enough.

#3 Will you even be able to run that many games? Dunno how many Direct3D will let you, but I seem to recall OpenGL doesn't like to share. If you run one OpenGL game and try to run a second one, the second one will give an "OpenGL subsystem not available" kind of error.

It's quite simple to build a system that can play 5 games at "maxed out" settings.
Step 1: Buy 20 dual-core opterons, 252 or above, 20 watercooling setups, 80 512mb sticks of registered PC3200, 5 quad-processor Opteron workstation motherboards w/ SLI, five SATA-II RAID arrays and optical disc drives, and 10 6800 Ultra graphics cards, with waterblocks.
Step 2: Buy a telephone booth.
Step 3: Put the processors, RAM, etc. in the motherboards, attach the disk drives to each motherboard, and set up the watercooling doodads.
Step 4: Attach five monitors, keyboards, and mice. Also, buy a huge desk to keep them on.

Presto! A system capable of playing 5 seperate games at once at max settings.

The cost to make it work would be far more than building 5 seperate gaming machines.

And what your friend said is so far from true i dont even know where to start.

I think when he said you could play 5 games at a time, he meant Pacman (x5) or something like that :p.

What is the usefulness of playing five games at once?

I'd be more impressed if he could encode 5 movies at once, listen to music, and play Doom 3 at the same time

;-)

LOL, just get 3 875 processors and you are there. Only cost you 10,000 dollars or so, LOL. 6 2200 AMD64 processors should definitely handle that request. Of course you would need 4gigs of ram or so also.
