server case temperature

The server at my work sits in an unvented, windowless room and is on 24 hours a day everyday. my boss refuses to let me tunr the airconditioner on becasue nobody is ever in the room. The outside temp is over 90 F, and inside the room i break into a sweat just opening the door. At what temperature does a computer start having trouble operating, and at what point does actual damage occur? thnanks so much for your answers.

The software for my dual Xeon mobo sets the alarms for the processors at 172 F, and the ambient case temp at 149. If the temps do somehow reach those levels, the computer will shut down, so I'm guess that it would have to be above that to cause any damage. Hope this helps.

That is really not a good thing to do to a server. You have an older server which is good for you as they tend to take heat a little better then the new ones so at least you have one positive thing going for you there. I would have to call your boss a complete moron if this is a production server. He is just asking for trouble. If its been running like this for some time and you are having no issues I would say you are probably ok with the exception of killing your hardware faster.
