I'm setting up a small client/server network and I don't know how to "find" a printer that is hooked up to a printer server. Using Win2k. Print server is a D-Link DP-301.

Did you share the printer already? If the server shares your printer then at the client you need to install the printer and it should be fine.

The network has 1 server (Win2k) and 6 clients that all run fine. The printer is set up by itself on the print server (D-Link DP-301). I can't install the printer, because I can't access(or find) it FROM the Server. I have tried using the install printer wizard and the find computer search wizard ,but don't know the correct path to type. I know that you have to install on each client. I have done this on other networks, but I always had the printer connected and installed directly to one of the client machines. That was easy, just click on that machine in network neighborhood, right click on the printer and install. With the printer hooked to the print server alone, I don't know what to do next.

don't you need to setup the print server first (name, protocols, addresses, etc) software should come with the D-link to accomplish this.

check docs or web page.

Yeah, I thought that too, but can't seem to find anything on their website. The print server was already on the network and there isn't any software for it on the Server. It's my first time setting one up, aannd I'm starting to feel like a dope.

First of all pardon me if I am wrong but let me clarify this. You have a printer on your server. You also have 6 clients. The printer is working fine from the server which is Win 2k. The problem that you are having is that you can't access the printer from the client side. If that is the problem, then it's almost similar that I had last time. I use Win 2k as my server and only have 1 client which is win 98. What I did was open the printer on the start->control panel->printer and give it a sharing(I assume the printer is installed and working properly from the server side). The next step that I did was open my client side, install a printer(Canon BJ 1000) and chose the network printer. You should be able to see the printer if you already shared in on your server side. If you can't see it then maybe you haven't created the user name for each of the client. If you had not done this then try to add user in the win 2k box so when the client log in then the server knows that the client is logged in on the win 2k box. If you had then you should be able to see the printer. I hope this will help you but if I am wrong then pardon me.
