Server boards

I can't find a server board that is rackmount ready (i.e. has onboard video) and supports the dual-core opteron (or even socket 939 cpus). Tyan has the K8S but every place that I looked shows them to be backordered which makes me think that they're actually discontinued (and I'm not even sure if it supports dual core). Anyone know of a good rackmount ready mb?

I forgot to mention that I wanted a single cpu board. The only one is the K8S which is apparently an older model and it's not clear if it supports dual core cpus. The last BIOS update was 10/28/05 and none of the BIOS updates indicate dual core support. I'd also prefer something that has SATAII capability

Actually, I think it's pretty clear that the K8S is not Dual Core capable as all the other boards that are state it clearly.

K8S is VRM limited. So, Tyan will Not publiclly state Dual-core support. Although, there have been numerous taiwanese info that state other wise. It's not worth it. Tyan Already replaced the product with Tomcat K8E.

K8E is not rackmount ready. I don't know why all opteron boards don't have video built since they're all being used as servers anyway. You can use a board with built in video in any box but you can't use one that requires PCI-E in all 1U cases. And it costs about $5 to but that cheapo ATI/8MB video chip on the board. Doesn't make much sense (to me anyway).

Well, my bad again apparently the K8E does have integrated video, not sure why they don't bill this board as rackmount ready and Dula -Core capable like the other boards. You kinda have to dig for the info (in teh BIOS revisions) to find it out.

If you want a Socket 939 rackmount ready board. Then Supermicro makes a H8SSL. Works with Athlon64 and Sempron64 Socket 939 processors.

$222

Only Rack chassis that will work with it is the one on SM's chassis list.
We do have an official thread going on it.
