We have an odd DNS configuration and won't get into details. When the group that manages printers installs a new printer they usually set it up on a different VLAN. A DNS server that we do not manage registers that address. Our DNS won't pick it up until we flush the cache.

Is there a way to create an MMC to allow non administrators a way to flush the DNS cache on the server? (dnscmd /clearcache command)

Posted in wrong forum.. meant to post in operating systems. can mod move it?

I'm not sure but it seems to me that regular users wouldn't have that ability unless you temporarily put them into an admin group. I'd be interested to see if there was a way to do this though!

I haven't done this so I recommend thoroughly testing it before actually deploying it. After you create your MMC snap-in for your users, open the MMC snap-in:

File > Options > Console Mode > (you'll probably want to select) User Mode - limited access, single window

Click Apply, and save it as is again.

Again, I would throughly test it before deploying.
