Background.
Host server running Windows Server 2008 Ent 64bit
Two Virtual Machines running via free VMware Server
Svr 1 is Windows 2008 Ent 64 bit (DC, DNS)
Svr 2 is Windows 2008 Ent 64 bit (File Server). This server runs Cobian 9 backup app to backup data files on D:
Attempting to backup Sys State of the 2 VMs using Windows Server Backup (2008 tool)
DC1 backup works fine (Full Bkup, selected volumes C: only with VSS)
FS1 backup fails with:
".....failed as Volume Shadow copy operation failed for backup volumes with following error code '2155348129'. Please rerun backup once issue is resolved."
Event Log OnLine Help is no help at all.
vssadmin list writers only shows DFS Replication service writer in a "Failed" state with the last error being "Inconsistent shadow copy"
While I recognize that the DFS issue is probably to root cause of the Sys State backup fail, any hints on a resolution? I'm shootin blanks myself.
